Sewing Classes

Dear Sewing Friends;

Hello to all our sewing friends. We hope you had a wonderful summer with lots of rest and relaxation.  I have just arrived home from Baby lock Tec Training in the US at the Baby lock headquarters.  They are such an inspiring company with top notch training and sponsors like Nancy Zieman and  Eleanor Burns to name a few.   I come back very energized and excited to bring some new classes to the table especially in the serger and embroidery department.

 Fall is a great time to start the creative juices flowing and is the usually the biggest schedule that we put out.   We will also be offering a great beginners line up as well as beginner and intermediate quilting classes.  I hope you will find something that will spark your interest.

Registration begins Monday, September 11th , so call in your registration by phone or stop in the store to register in person..  Hope to see you soon, Liz

Meet the Teachers:

 Liz Badiuk

Sewing has been a huge part of my life since I was 16 years old. In 1983, I went into the sewing business and never looked back.  I have been teaching since 1988 and have found it to be the most rewarding part of my job.  The last fifteen years of my teaching career, I have really branched out, obtaining many certifications and training throughout Canada and the US.  I have obtained my Serger Heirloom certification, Omni Grid Certification, as well; I have trained with some of the top sewing celebrities such as Nancy Zieman, Martha Pullen, Eleanor Burns and the most amazing education team from the Babylock Sewing Machine Company.  Training at this facility is top notch and allows me to bring back some of the best sewing techniques ever.  This year, I am proud to say that I have been a part of the sewing industry for 33 years buying, selling, and teaching.  I love to make the class room fun and can guarantee to teach you something new with each class. I teach all genres of sewing but my specialty is in Serging, Embroidery and Apparel Wear.

 Francine De Meyer

Francine’s first love is fabric. She learned to sew as a young teen and also learned other hand crafts such as embroidery, needlepoint and crochet.   During the late 1980’s, she took design and textile courses at Ontario College of Art and continued to pursue learning new sewing techniques by attending the Creative Festival in Toronto over a period of 15 years.  Now she would like to share her knowledge with others. She hopes to make sewing fun for everyone.

 Lynne Cryer

Lynne has been sewing for over 50 years…(that reveals my age, doesn’t it!)…over 30 of those as a dressmaker and alterationist in her home based business. In 2009 she added Certified Professional Bra maker to her business resume and “Exquisite Underpinnings” was born.  Lynne loves all types of sewing and needlework. It’s her hobby, her business, and her passion, so quilting has been a natural part of her sewing world. She started quilting when polyester fabrics in quilts were acceptable and long before quilting became an art form. Her style and expertise in quilting has expanded along with the many new techniques and forms of quilting that have been introduced over the years.  Lynne is so passionate about her craft that she wants everyone to learn it too! Not only does she teach quilting and fashion sewing, Lynne also offers bra, swimwear and lingerie workshops for those who want a well-fitting bra, luxurious lingerie, and designer swimwear.
